Nomination Rules

John H. Dillion Medal

Eligibility: The nominees must disclose both the year and month of their Ph.D. Dissertation defense in their nomination package (CV). Only candidates who have defended their Ph.D. less than 12 months ago by the time of the nomination, which is June 1st of each nomination year, are eligible. For instance, when nominated in the year 2020, the candidate must have defended their Ph.D. on or after May 31, 2008.
Letters of support: Personnel with individual COI cannot write supporting letters. Examples include (1) spouse or family member, (2) business of professional partner, (3) collaborator/co-author/co-PI within the past 48 months, (4) co-editor within the past 24 months.
DPOLY rules: For each award or prize, the APS allows each individual to write only one letter of support (nominating or supporting) per award per year.

Polymer Physics Prize

Letters of support: Personnel with individual COI cannot write supporting letters. Examples include (1) spouse or family member, (2) business of professional partner, (3) collaborator/co-author/co-PI within the past 48 months, (4) co-editor within the past 24 months.
DPOLY rules: For each award or prize, the APS allows each individual to write only one letter of support (nominating or supporting) per award per year.

APS Fellowship

Letters of support: Personnel with individual COI cannot write supporting letters. Examples include (1) spouse or family member, (2) business of professional partner, (3) collaborator/co-author/co-PI within the past 48 months, (4) co-editor within the past 24 months.
DPOLY rules: The APS does not restrict the number of letters of support (nominating or supporting) written by an individual. However, the DPOLY recommends that each individual write only one letter, nominating or supporting only one fellowship candidate per year.
