Endowment Campaigns

APS programs rely in great part on donations from generous individuals like you. In addition to supporting programs, your donations can support the following prizes, awards, and grants.

 

Past Endowment Campaigns

21st Century Campaign
APS raised funds to improve science education, attract greater numbers of women and underrepresented minorities to the sciences, and develop stronger ties between industry and academia.

Edward A. Bouchet Award
The Bouchet Award lost its annual funding in 2012, so APS established a fundraising campaign to endow it.

Campaign for Physics
The Campaign for Physics raised $5 million in support of science education at the K-12 level and beyond.

Centennial Campaign
An effort to raise funds for a number of events and projects related to the APS Centennial in 1999.

Herman Feshbach Prize for Theoretical Nuclear Physics
The APS Council voted on March 31, 2012, to establish the Herman Feshbach Prize in Theoretical Nuclear Physics.

Excellence in Physics Education Award
The award aims to recognize and honor a team or group of individuals or, exceptionally, a single individual, who have exhibited a sustained commitment to excellence in physics education.

Leo P. Kadanoff Prize
Honoring the memory and celebrating the remarkable legacy of Leo Kadanoff.

Harry Lustig Award
Recognizing outstanding graduate student research performed at a Four Corners institution.

Thomas H. Stix
Recognizing and encouraging young researchers.

Irwin Oppenheim Award
Honoring the memory and celebrating the legacy of the founding editor of Physical Review E.

DGRAV Student Travel Grants
Providing support to allow DGRAV student members to present their work at the APS April Meeting.

Millie Dresselhaus Fund for Science & Society
Honoring the remarkable career and inspiring community legacy of Mildred Dresselhaus.

Justin Jankunas Doctoral Dissertation Award in Chemical Physics
Honoring Jankunas' work as a chemical physicist at the start of a promising career.
