1.     THE MIND READER

a. pick a number (don't disclose it to the instructor)

b. add ten (10 ) to the number

c. multiply the number by two (2)

d. subtract six (6) from the number

e. divide the number by two (2)

f. subtract the original number selected from the total  

2.     THE EXACT AMOUNT OF WATER

With one three (3) liter container and one five (5) liter container, how would you exactly measure four (4) liters of water?

3.     THE CORRECT MASS

You are given seven (7) objects of the same shape and size; six (6) have the same mass; one (1) has a greater mass than the others. How would you determine the object with the greater mass, using an equal arm balance only twice?

4.      FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON

You are on the earth and possess a magic seed. Once it germinates, it doubles its length every day. At this rate, the growing plant will reach the moon in thirty-six (36) days. How long will it take, for the plant to reach half the distance to the moon.
