The Division of Gravitational Physics (DGRAV) was launched in 2016 formally known as the Topical Group in Gravitation (GGR) since 1995 to serve as a focus for research in all areas of gravitational physics. Its objective is to serve as a focus for research on gravitational physics including experiments and observations related to the detection and interpretation of gravitational waves, experimental tests of gravitational theories, computational general relativity, relativistic astrophysics, solutions to Einstein's equations and their properties, alternative theories of gravity, classical and quantum cosmology, and quantum gravity.

DGRAV supports the scientific community in numerous ways, including supporting student participation in the APS April Meetings, where we sponsor and organize a variety of invited sessions. DGRAV also organizes regional meetings and sponsors DGRAV Student Presentation Awards. We recognize the contributions of our members by the Einstein Prize, the Isaacson Award, and through prestigious APS Fellowships.

Our interests range from cosmology and astrophysics to string theory, from numerical simulations to the analysis of large datasets, and from precision experimental design to rigorous mathematical theory. DGRAV serves as a forum to bring together members of several communities to advance our understanding of the relationship between gravity and fundamental physics.
